Read moreHuman rights refer to the fundamental rights and freedoms that every person is entitled to, simply by virtue of being human. These rights are based on the principles of dignity, equality, and respect, and are universal and inalienable. Human rights include civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights, such as the right to life, liberty, and security of person; freedom of speech, religion, and assembly; the right to work, education, and healthcare; and protection from discrimination, torture, and arbitrary arrest. Human rights are enshrined in international treaties and declarations, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and they are protected by national and international laws and institutions.
