What makes a difference in people’s lives?
It isn’t always intelligence, talent, or dedication.
The difference is how we make use of the knowledge we have.
We help you find the knowledge you seek.
It’s up to you how you use it.
Author Indie
Author Indie is a work in progress resource to help New-age Writers earn an income from their writing without breaking the bank.
People of any age who aspire to be good authors and earn from their writing and make it a success, will find articles of relevance in this blog.
Author Indie aims to give relevant answers to search queries.
Whether you are confident, ready to proceed or are already on your journey as an author, I would be surprised if you were not apprehensive. Nothing in life is guaranteed. So you should be as well prepared as you can be before you publish your first book, and it is normal to feel apprehensive and not be over-confident.
The odds of success are against almost anyone who starts a new business. Accept it, and you will be more determined to make it a success story.
Author Indie is a place where you can;
- find information about writing and self-publishing
- learn the most cost-effective ways to utilise resources
- dial in to recommended sources of expertise, and
- find the right tools to help you on your way
We get straight to the heart of the matter,
- cut through the waffle.
- advise and show you HOW to do the important things to build your author business.
- only give opinions where we have knowledge of a subject or have tested a product, and
- help you save time, money, and find the best resources and expert advice.
We will not publish anything that won’t inform or entertain our readers, and which doesn’t meet our standards, and Google’s.
We will always do our best to satisfy readers with quality in preference to quantity.
Our experienced team of writers research and use authoritative sources in the articles. Facts and statistics are linked to the source.
Even though those links will take you away from our site, we believe it is more important you know where the information is coming from.
James King
An English self-published author, James King emigrated to South Africa in 1995. His work took him all over the Country, visiting Cities, townships and rural areas, gaining valuable insight into the culture and lives of the people, post-apartheid.
In 2011 James left South Africa for Thailand, where he started his Arts and Humanities Blog and writes novels, poetry and short stories. His Literary fiction thrillers, focus on – suspense, mystery, and romantic drama.
His character-driven stories are dramatic, suspenseful, thrilling and emotional. There are always sinister elements at play in his plots.
Because he has lead a well-travelled but somewhat fractured and unconventional life, James has met and worked with a wide variety of people from all walks of life and cultures. They have all provided rare material which he uses to great effect in his writing.
Moved by the generous help he has received from other authors and writers over the years is what motivated James to start Author Indie.

Hi Polomi. I’ve seen you visited jamoroki before. Thanks for the compliment. James
HI nice to meet you here..You have a great Blog!
My pleasure. james
Great site and thanks for the follow! 🙂
Hi, my understanding of this award is that it is an online award given from bloggers to other bloggers (whether for an old or new blog site) as a way of acknowledging the hard work and great content! Hope this helps!
Thank you. I don’t normally do awards but perhaps you could explain what the Liebster is?
Hi, Just letting you know that I’m nominating you for the Liebster Award as I really enjoy reading through your posts! Hope you don’t mind 🙂
ha ha
Thanks a lot Lyn. Can I eat your blog???
Very nice to meet you! nice blog! come visit me sometime!
Good to meet you. Do feel free to visit my blog when you have a moment or two. 🙂
Hi Steve. Trust you are well. I’m honoured indeed although I must confess I don’t know what the ‘Very Inspiring Blog Award’ is. I’m sure you will let me know. James
Hey James, I wanted you to know that I’ve nominated your blog – Very Inspiring Blogger Award – I follow quite a few blogs, but yours stands heads above many of the others. Hope you will accept. Steve
You are most welcome Levi. I’m open for visits 24/7!! Please comment and anything you can add will be appreciated. James
I really enjoyed browsing through your content, I’m looking forward to more. Cheers!
Yes, that would be absolutely great. You’re quick, everybody else dillydally”s around glad you don’t. Look forward to seeing it.
I have something suitable drafted already which I will rewrite and send to you for approval in a day or so. Shall I send some pictures as separate JPEG’s and note the places for you to insert?
Great, sounds good. I’m looking forward to it. Do you have a time frame? Actually I think two posts are better, gets the reader excited for the next post coming. Hopefully will have time in this next week to read Volume One, talk to you soon.
OK got it Steve.
Ed’s posts are great. He is such an historian and when I wrote his story on The Displaced Nation I had to précis a lot of info.
What I have in mind is to explain how I came to write Thailand Diaries and how my experiences showed me that we are pretty much all the same despite cultural and language differences.
If I think one post is too long I’ll split it into 2 and you can post a week apart if you like.
I’ll send you the draft and you can vet it and post when you like.
James. PS. Hope you enjoy 15 WEEKS. It’s more fun than serious. Vols 2 and 3 get down to business.
That’s great! Mostly what my guest bloggers write about is bridging cultures, bringing people closer together. Eddie did this through introducing his hometown, it was great. Mostly what I ask is that what ever you write it helps unite, what you write and what you share is up to you. I always tell my guest bloggers whatever they do it should lead the reader back to their blog or in your case the book you’ve written. By the way I just downloaded it from Smashwords, will let you know what I think in a couple of days. If you are interested let me know when you would like to post the article. That way I can prep my readers and get them excited about a new guest blogger.
Sure Steve. I would love to do that as long as it’s not something I need 3 months to research. As you have probably seen on my blog I write monthly columns for The Displaced Nation and Ex pat Focus so I am pretty busy. But if it’s a one off or occassional that’s fine. Let me know if you want it on a specific subject or random.
You are also welcome to Re-blog any of my posts if that helps.
In Russian we have a saying “Согласен”! Which means agreed. I usually wait for a while before I ask a fellow blogger if they are interested in doing a guest post so I can view more of their blog and feel comfortable with them. But when I was reading your blog I could tell your work is top notch. Would you be interested in doing a guest post on my blog? I know my readership would love reading your thoughts.
Thanks Steve. You are welcome any time. I’ve browsed your blog too. Looks like we have a similar take on ex-pat living and the realisation that we are basically all the same!
James, I must say I thoroughly enjoyed browsing through your blog. Great content. Will return for more manna, time to time.
Thanks for the compliment Juju
You have s truly amazing body of work. Rock on!
I don’t know how to edit and it’s the first video I have ever made. Do you think I should be on stage or keep a low profile?
Fun hearing your voice and “seeing” some of your personality!
Thank you!
I am so happy to be able to give you some pleasure. It’s good to see you tackling your own demons with determination. Never give in. Hope to see you on jamoroki again. Drop in for cyber coffee any time. James
Your blog is fascinating! Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed it.
Thanks Kitty.
Hi, of course all award nominees are free to do whatever they like with nominations. All the best for you and your blog 🙂
Thanks for the link Kitty. I’ve scoured the site but can’t find anything about the award at all except a picture in the sidebar that says he created it in March 2013 but there is no link to anywhere. I am following you because I like your blog but I’m afraid I do not like Shaun’s blog at all. It really isn’t my scene and I definitely could not nominate anyone in those circumstances. So, whilst I appreciate your kind thoughts, I will have to decline the award. Keep blogging; your stuff is good. James.
Shaun=Shaun Gibson. See

Sorry. It’s me again. I’m a bit confused. Who is Shaun? (the creator of the award). There’s no contact details for him!! If I choose to nominate other people I need to know what this is all about and who is behind it. James
Oh! I see. So it’s actually an AWARD not a nomination. Great. I’d better do something then!!
If you are nominated, then you have the award 🙂 You can make a blog post nominating others for it, if you like 🙂
Well, Thank you Kitty for the nomination. It’s a splendid idea. presumably I just wait now and see if I get the award. james
Congratulations, Jamoroki!
I have nominated your blog for the WordPress Family award.

I’ll email you now.
James
Heya, I can’t find your email address either, oh dear! mine is strawberryqueen666@yahoo.co.uk, I would like to take part in your interview if that’s ok? What would it involve? Cheers, Rachel
Good to find another with a wacky sense of humour. I thought we were a dying breed. Maybe it’s the ice cream!!!
Hello Tiger, count me in. Love and smiles to you and apologies for any impending arterial damage. xxxx
My pleasure. Hope we’ll see each other again.
Thanks for stopping by our blog
And you. It’s amazing how Facebook want to stop us connecting. But you won’t know about that until I release my post about that this week.
