Give

Posted on Posted in Poetry

It serves us well to keep in mind,

When we a gift do bear.

If some reward we then expect,

It’s not a gift I swear.

For giving is an act of love

Wherein great treasures lie.

And loving is the greatest gift

‘Twixt friends, not passersby.

A gift may not material be.

Close friends will know for sure.

Better then a part of thee.

A selfless act of instinct pure.

So giving brings such rewards

And pleasures beyond nice.

But save a little love for self

Or you will pay the price.
